Fueling the Mind

St. Joseph Catholic School serves children from infants through 12th grade, continuing a long tradition of excellence in educating the mind, body and spirit of Brazos Valley youth since 1894.  The academic curriculum for grades K-12 is solidly based in the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare students for responsible roles in an ever-changing and challenging society.

St. Joseph Eagle's Nest, now in its sixth year, provides infant and early childhood care that offers age appropriate and creative learning environments that nurture each child's intellectual, social and emotional needs.  Following the guidelines of the NAEYC and TCCED, a strong foundation of preparatory skills for elementary curriculum are developed and strengthened through offerings of enrichment and special classes in Spanish, art, music and sign language.

At the Travis Campus, the elementary program offers a basic, yet challenging curriculum that includes religion, art, music and Spanish, as well as an enrichment program.  Both the elementary and middle school students compete academically in PSIA and Destination Imagination.  The middle school and high school programs are located at the Central Campus and offer a solid academic curriculum with emphasis on arts, music, humanities, foreign language, computer skills and religion.  The high school program provides a college preparatory curriculum, dual enrollment classes and elective opportunities that enables students to broaden their horizons and prepares them for university level studies.  Students from St. Joseph have consistently brought home top honors from TAPPS competitions in all areas of academics and art.  St. Joseph is committed to maintaining small class sizes with an outstanding faculty of dedicated and passionate teachers.

Strengthening the Body

Essential to the development of the whole child, a variety of athletic and extracurricular activities are offered at St. Joseph.  Beginning with the nursery, programs include Stretch-n-Grow, outdoor play, gymnastics and dance.  At the elementary level, activities include sports, special events, Christian Service Club, scouting, and choir as well as numerous enrichment clubs.  Through TAPPS, the middle school and high school teams compete athletically with a winning tradition in football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, band, soccer, track and cheerleading.  With the expanding choices in clubs and service opportunities, an outstanding 95 percent of students are involved in some aspect of academic and/or extracurricular activities.

Renewing the Spirit

St. Joseph Catholic School provides a solid faith-based education that is open to children of all religions.  Offered in a contemporary manner, religious instruction is provided daily with students in K-12 attending Mass twice weekly.  Students and their parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that promote and encourage the values of respect, cooperation and volunteerism.  A student service program, a requirement for graduation, further instills the value of student leadership.

St. Joseph Catholic School was established in 1894 to provide a Christian environment that offers students educational excellence and spiritual faith formation.  Students are challenged to work to the best of their abilities and to live as Christian examples of faith to one another and to the extended community.

Educating since 1894

Beginning as a small parochial school serving the immigrant families of the Brazos Valley, St. Joseph Catholic School System has become a solid choice for quality, faith-based education.  With enrollment approaching 700, St. Joseph is committed to maintaining high academic and athletic standards while offering the best blend of opportunities and individual attention.  Plans are well underway for the expansion of the elementary campus, additions at the middle school and high school campus and an athletic facility.  For more information call 979-822-6641, or come by the Central Campus located at 600 South Coulter for a personal tour.
