As a Catholic school, we add a distinctive layer of spiritual development through daily religion or theology class, weekly prayer services, class retreats, days of reflections and student-led Liturgies. Our students and staff take part in celebrations of the liturgical year such as May Crowning, Stations of the Cross and Living Rosary.
Our goal is to foster an environment of understanding, compassion, and unity, where students can thrive regardless of their faith. We welcome students and families from diverse religious backgrounds and stand committed to creating a nurturing and enriching experience for all.
St. Joseph Catholic School supports the following goals:
The school community gathers for a variety of liturgical celebrations, including weekly Mass. Students are invited to take a leadership role in the SJCS’s liturgical life by participating in the liturgical ministries as Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, and/or Music Ministers.
Spiritual formation is deeply embedded in our St. Joseph Catholic School Catholic identity. Our class retreats help students come closer to Christ and to bond with their classmates. SJCS is committed to the faith formation of its students, and class retreats are an integral part of their formation. Class retreats are led by the Ministry Leadership Team.
Throughout the school year, the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) plans and assists with class retreats, and develop prayer opportunities for the student body.
The MLT accompanies their peers while also deepening their own faith. There is an application and interview process open to sophomores, juniors and seniors to serve on the MLT. The MLT meets during Advocate serve as student leaders focused on the Catholic identity of our SJCS community.
As a way to connect our community, we implemented Prayer Pals. Prayer Pals is an initiative that pairs an elementary campus student with a secondary campus student. The Pals communicate monthly through letters, videos, emails and virtual visits. To bring the pals together, our students participate in a school-wide Mass, where the students meet and celebrate Mass with their prayer pals.
All-school prayer services are held weekly at our Elementary and Secondary Campuses. The SJCS community celebrates thanksgiving, Advent, Lent and the Resurrection through these student-driven, community prayer services in the chapel (Secondary) and Cafeteria or Gym (Elementary). These prayer services offer opportunities for Adoration, Reconciliation, rosaries, guest speakers and more. These services are planned by the Ministry Leadership Team.
