I am honored to be a part of St. Joseph’s community and admire the deep appreciation for our parish's history and the story of Catholicism in our region. Fortunate to have wandered wide and far, I have stood in the shadows of doorways, arches, and altars of countless churches and basilicas—withstanding the want of time—all speaking one simple, exquisite truth: salvation springs from sacrifice and love. The history of our Faith, the saints and the shepherds, and those who have been stewards of our own faith journey remind us that giving, building, and creating community shape the grace that follows, so we may...
...Love others into the light of Christ.
As we celebrate our 130th with you this year, these moments help us see that our faith and rich history are the seeds of a radiant tomorrow. Stewards such as Fr. Gleissner, Fr. Valenta, Mgsr. McCaffrey, and Fr. Brian have toiled in the garden and represent individuals for whom the Lord says: “And he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will be even more fruitful.” (John 15:2)
Their diligent tending of the garden, combined with YOUR support, has facilitated feedback such as: “SJCS is a wonderful place for students and families… The teachers care, the students know each other, and the families are supportive of one another.”
The other day, a parent shared a beautiful observation about her child’s experience at St. Joseph. She spoke about how, since attending our school, her child has been radiating love toward younger siblings at home, toward friends at school, and in daily interactions. She expressed how evident it is that each classroom is filled with love.
The fruits we see before us are ALIVE in our students, who have commented:
"Faith, to me, is crucial to how I act and treat others, and to me, that means always demonstrating the greatest amount of love I can toward others and giving everything my all." —John, Grade 12
Abby, Grade 11, expresses it beautifully when she remarks: "Faith gives me purpose and direction in life, which is why it is so important to me. Faith frames who I am—my existence, my values, my hopes, and my dreams."
It is here, within our mission to create disciples for the 21st century, that we endeavor to elevate the children we serve to the constant Truth of our Lord. Even more than 100 years ago, Pope Leo XIII stated, “The world has heard enough of the so-called 'rights of man.' Let it hear something of the rights of God.”
In our Catholic faith, true humanity is found in the Lord, who transcends space and time, bringing clarity to the inherent value and purpose of every person. As St. Paul reminds us, "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27)
It is in this purpose that Catholic education has sought to pour itself out for the betterment of others, right here in the Brazos Valley... for 130 years.
From prioritizing the Word, which became flesh and dwelt among us through Masses, prayer services, retreats, rosaries, and our structure and speech each day, we seek to empower our students toward what Pope Leo XIII would consider TRUE LIBERTY: “In this true liberty consists: being free to live according to right reason.”
From Faith to Academics to Enrichment—Mind, Body and Spirit—we are privileged to be a part of your lives, and this legacy.
It is through HIM that we at St. Joseph Catholic School recognize the sacred worth of all those around us, and strive to help them fulfill their GREAT purpose.
Thank you,
Juan Nagore
