A Season to Remember

As the principal of St. Joseph Catholic School, it fills me with immense pride to reflect on our historic football season. This year, our team's extraordinary journey to the state semi-finals marked not just a record-breaking achievement, but also a testament to the power of unity, resilience, and faith.

Every Piece Matters in Our Story

This season was about much more than just football. It was a story of how every member of our community played a vital role in this journey. Our band, with their enthusiastic melodies and exciting cadences, uplifted us at every game. The cheerleaders and mascots, with their infectious spirit and tireless support, were the heartbeat of our stands. They reminded us that in our school, everyone contributes, everyone matters.

This season was particularly remarkable for our six seniors, who showed what it means to lead both in action and character. Their focus, grit, and heart were the driving force that propelled our team forward. Their ability to rally their teammates, especially in moments of adversity, was nothing short of inspiring.

A lot of these boys I've known since they were only five years old as they went to school with my oldest, Marc, who is also a senior this year. I have fond {read: hilariously funny} memories of them at sleepovers at our house and creating mischief on the playground at the elementary campus many years ago. They have created such a brotherhood, not only within the football team, but within the classrooms and hallways and many Double Dave's and Whataburger booths. 

Nate, Bryant, Ben, Luke and Jackson: I am so proud of the men you have become and cannot wait to see what your future holds. You were the foundation of this team and led with dignity and fortitude all season long. Hold your heads high, boys. You made Eagle Nation soar this year!

To my Marc - my Senior: Always remember that you are a warrior of the faith even when you're not on the football field. Thanks for giving us such a special season to enjoy. No matter what the future holds, know that I'll always be there cheering you on as loud as I can! It is an honor to be your mom.

Unity in Adversity

Our journey this year was marked by challenges, but it was our unyielding spirit that defined us. The values of teamwork, never quitting, sacrifice, and brotherhood were evident in every game. As we faced each hurdle, our perseverance shone through, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth. This team was not just a group of players; they were a family, united in their quest for excellence.

We went into the regional finals up against Fredericksburg Heritage Christian. A team that we've played before and never beat at a playoff level we've never advanced past before. This year, it was different. This year, we had something to prove and never quit even until the final two seconds of the game where we came from behind with a touchdown pass to Hutka for the win! 

The overwhelming support from our community was a sight to behold. Every game was a display of our collective spirit and unity. This support was a powerful reminder of the strength we possess when we come together, echoing our vision of developing disciples for the 21st century.

As we look to the future, we do so with the knowledge that this season was a stepping stone towards even greater achievements. Our football team, along with every student, staff member, and supporter, is a vital part of this journey. Together, we are not just building championship teams; we are cultivating a legacy of excellence, faith, and unity.

As we celebrate this historic season, we are reminded of a profound truth: "God knows when and where He needs our wins to be." This journey was not just about the victories on the field but about the lessons learned and the bonds formed. 

Let us carry the spirit of this season forward, embodying the values of commitment, courage, sacrifice, solidarity and humility. Together, we are more than just a school; we are a family, a community, and a force for good in the world.
